Britain’s first sports charity shop - Sports Traider
Sports Traider is a youth-focused sports charity offering youngsters the kit and support they need to get into sport. We encourage children to try new sports, and help talented sporting youngsters to excel, whatever their background.
How?
We have opened a flagship store in Bedford, where specialist clothing and equipment can be bought affordably. In the current economic climate and the popularity of Freecycle and eBay there is much less stigma with second hand goods.
Secondly we channel the money we raise back where it belongs - into enabling talented and disadvantaged children and young people access sport. This is through a variety of projects including helping paying for transport.
Getting involved in sport can be an expensive and time consuming, and sadly not all youngsters have family who have the time, money or sometimes the commitment to support them.
Our focus on sport is perfectly in tune with the Government’s desire to get more young people being active and looking after their health. It’s something youngsters themselves are keen to do: with London 2012 only three years away, young people have a new excitement about sport.
How can you help?
Sports Traider is currently collecting in schools, the Town Hall and other Public places in Bedfordshire. If you have anything you can donate that is still useable and in a clean condition please pass it on.
