Calling all mothers, fathers, families and midwives:If you have been watching Channel 4’s programme ‘One Born Every Minute’ you will have seen how unsupported and traumatic birth can be for women. Many women and their partners are left alone in labour and get little support from overstretched midwives. This will only change, when there are more midwives, more women being able to birth in free-standing midwifery units (Birth Centres) or at home and more midwives carrying their own case loads and looking after parents-to-be from conception to birth and postnatally. Few parents-to-be have any of these options at the moment. You can help change this by taking any or all of the following actions:
· Join the Reclaiming Birth Rally in London on the 7th March
· Organise a demonstration of local women outside your local maternity unit on the 7th March
· Write to the Secretary of State for Health if you live in England, or Health Minister for Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales.
· Write to your MP (Member of Parliament, England)
· Write to your Maternity Services Liaison Committee at your local obstetric unit (most units have an MSLC)

Whether you are a first-time parent, or a parent to-be, still blissfully unaware of the sleepless nights to come, we have a range of exhibitors to help you find everything you need. For the battle-weary parents of toddlers, and those who have dared attempt the child producing experience more than once, there will be plenty of things for you to buy, but more importantly, loads to keep the little monsters entertained while you put your feet up! But even if you are already stocked up, The Milton Keynes Baby & Toddler Fair isn’t all about buying things- we will have experts on hand to offer advice and support on birth, breastfeeding and babies. This year’s event on Sunday 21st March at Stadium MK,is not to be missed.
We like to cater for the whole family at The MK Baby & Toddler Fair 2010 and we are proud to announce the show will include a fantastic mix of classes, activities and entertainment to make sure our smaller guests have just as much fun as the adults. Why not treat yourselves to Gary Good’s “Mad Magic Show”, a regular visitor to our events, whose performance is even better than his name would suggest. Keep checking back as we announce more and more of the activities on offer on our What’s On page.
The show will house around 60 exhibitors spread over 1,000m2, including local and mum-owned businesses, but also those well-known National names. Our exhibitors will be offering a wide and varied range of products and services tailored to your needs, and those of your baby or toddler, but without the hard sell. You’ll be able to browse, boogie and barter before buying at your leisure.
Stadium MK has loads of parking and has been chosen for its ease of access for everyone, big or small, but not forgetting those important pushchair pushers, wheelchair users and swollen ankles. Green Bottoms will take care of any dirty bottoms with clearly signposted, friendly baby changing areas. A quiet and private seated area specifically for all you Breastfeeding Mums will also be provided. We think we’ve thought of everything (well almost!) so please take a look at the rest of the site, which we will keep updated over the coming weeks as we are able to announce more activities and more of our exhibitors. Entry is free for children and just £4.50 per adult on the door. However if you pre-register you can get your tickets for just £2.50 each, your first bargain of the day!

Children are inquisitive beings with no sense of fear or understanding of potential dangers, as a result most children will have an accident at some time or another. Would you know what to do if a child or a member of your family hurt themselves? Our course is aimed at parents, grandparents and babysitters, to give you the confidence to deal with a first aid situation. During the course you will cover CPR, recovery position, choking and severe bleeding. The topics covered will include the treatment of babies, children and adults.
This course is also an appointed person qualification suitable for use in the workplace.
