Eating out with children - One Mum’s View
This can be a tricky one…….very often it is a compromise between somewhere ‘ultra child friendly’ but with ‘average food’ or somewhere which has lovely food but is a challenge to keep children quiet and entertained.
As a mum of 2 young boys I have always taken mine out to eat since they were weeks old.
This is partly because it is one of life’s pleasures to me, and partly because I felt if it was something we had always done then the children would get used to it and they would learn how to behave. Needless to say some meals have been better than others!
When you are eating out with children, especially smaller children there are a range of key facilities that are essential;
• Being able to get the pushchair in & next to your table
• Baby changing (and not just in the ladies!)
• High chairs that are clean and with straps that can be pre-booked
• Child menu with ‘real food’
• Garden or play area or colouring activities provided
From September r-time online will be launching a series of ‘restaurant reviews’ which look at restaurants not just from the quality of food aspect - but also from the above key facilities for families. If you have been somewhere as a family that has been really good we would love you to share that with other us so other Bedfordshire families know where to go for a proper family experience. Send us an email to info@r-timeonline.com .
