ARAS has been set up to help unwanted dogs find caring homes, especially German Shepherds.![]()

Aras Dog Rescue was founded in 1971 by Coral Browne for the rehoming of dogs. ARAS has re-homed thousands of dogs ![]()
from various kennels over the years. We moved to our present kennels in 2006, and last year we found new homes for 220 dogs. The kennels are run by a dedicated team of volunteers managed by Alison Dennis who took over this role in January 2008. The kennels are entirely funded by donations and the proceeds of our Training Academy and Dog Shows. At our modern kennels each dog has its own individual kennel and outside run and we also have a large paddock and several similar areas where dogs are exercised.
When ARAS was founded we specialised in German Shepherds but we now accept all breeds of dogs.
Many dogs taken into rescues for re-homing have not had sufficient training and are not socialised. At ARAS we offer 4 free training sessions at our Academy and encourage new owners to take up training locally if they cannot take advantage of our classes. With Corals vast experience of dogs she will also offer advice on training and problem dogs.
